Low battery alarm is activated when power level reaches 13% and the following action is set, NOTIFICATION - sound, text
POWER MODE - no action
RUN PROGRAM - none

Critical battery alarm is activated when power level reaches 4% and the following action is set,
NOTIFICATION - sound,text
POWER MODE - Hibernate
RUN PROGRAM - none

I have put these same settings on two omnibook 6000. On the one laptop everything seems fine when my power reaches around 13% I get a message warning me of low battery and if I continue to work the laptop will go into hibernate mode when power level reaches 4%. However on the other laptop I dont get a low battery message ie when power level reaches 13% the laptop just goes into hbibernate mode once power level reaches 4%.

After a full charge the battery will work till the meter on the task bar reads 65% - then the autosave feature kicks in and saves the current state to disk and the computer shuts down. Will not restart except with power cord.

I run two operating systems on this computer and it does it in both, which kinda rules out software... Battery is 2 years old, but I only run the computer about 1 - 2 hours a day.

rep:..
Your daily usage doesn't matter that much, it depends more upon how you use it. AC always on, or frequent charging before its discharged to 50% or less, is not good for battery life.

The test leds on the battery light fully and when I press F6 on boot the battery calibration utility reports that the batteries capacity is at a more than respectable level and says "nothing to do".
Also, win98 reports that the battery is 100%.

I have tried clearing the capacitors as mentioned on this board.

I just thought it was weird how everything is reported to be working.

rep: ..The battery is most likely dead...the Omnibook 6000s are a few years old now and LiIon batteries tend to last a couple of years at most...

The old battery on this Omnibook 6000 did not work so I bought a new one. Popped it in. It start charging from 0% up. About 25% through I unplugged the AC power to move the laptop, and all seem well, the new battery worked. About half way though the charge the battery seemed to be getting very hot, so I took it out to make sure everything was ok, then plugged it back in.

..The notebook (Omnibook 6000) worked for about 15 min with the battery in that state. After it went down, the built-in battery gauge showed zero charge. A few minutes later, the gauge showed almost full charge (one bar shy of full). Fascinating.

I have an HP Omnibook 6000 that recently died in so much that it just stopped charging. It worked for a while when the battery still had charge left, so the machine itself still works - but now there is no charge left in the battery I am unable to charge it/run it off mains/power up.

rep:..I would advice replacing the Power Supply PCA as soon as possible, because the laptop's reliablity will degrad rapidly. Right now, mine can't stay running longer than 15 minutes, until the power supply kills all power to the laptop, I have to take the battery out completely, and reinsert it, in order to actually turn the laptop on...
